SML Technologies was formed in 1995, specializing in asset protection and collision avoidance systems for the offshore oil industry from UK facilities in Aberdeen and Southampton.

We quickly became the worldwide leader in our field with offshore oil installations in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Caspian Sea, Netherlands and on 27 platforms in The North Sea.

Building on our expertise in the offshore oil industry we entered the Port VTS, Coastal Surveillance and Defence industries with great success. Our expansion continued to include further facilities in Singapore along with major representatives based in the US, India and Middle East.

In 2003 we joined Ultra Electronics - a market-leading group that employs more than 3,000 people at 19 sites worldwide operating in the aerospace & defence electronic niches. Since formation in 1993 the group has achieved year-on-year growth and for 2005 annual sales were in excess of USD$600m.
